The Supersports 600cc category brought the heat to practice sessions at the Round 3 of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, held at Mobility Resort Motegi, Japan with Kengo Nagao of TEAM KENKEN topped the practice session that ended on Friday.
In Practice 1, Apiwath Wongthananon of YAMAHA TEKHNE Racing Team ASIA leading the pack with a blazing lap time of 1’55:304s. Muhammad Helmi Azman of IDEMITSU Boon Siew Honda Racing Team made it second at 1’55:355s followed by Kengo Nagao of TEAM KENKEN at 1’55:367s.
In Practice 2, Kengo topped the session with the fastest lap time of 1’54:450s. Azroy Hakeem Anuar of IDEMITSU Boon Siew Honda Racing Team who clocked his best lap time of 1’54:851s and Mohammad Adenanta Putra of ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM at 1’54:864s filled the second and third spots respectively.
Practice 3 showcased Kengo who continued to impressed with the fastest lap time of 1’53:728s, firmly placed himself in the top spot. Behind Kengo was Azroy Hakeem Anuar of IDEMITSU Boon Siew Honda Racing Team who made it second at 1’54:324s followed by Adenanta at 1’54:434s.
The combined practice results, Kengo appeared as the fastest overall, while Azroy and Adenanta closely followed suit, taking the second and third spots respectively.
Kengo said, “Today in FP1 and FP2 I have some minor problem with my machine. But I’m glad our team made improvement, session by session. Overall, it was okay, as my best lap time in this circuit was around 1’52:500s. Also, last year in Sugo round, I secured the pole position, so this time I am aiming the same, and that I can win the race tomorrow.”
