REDEMPTION FOR HERJUN IN SEPANG

Round 5 of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, saw Herjun Atna Firdaus of the ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM claim victory in Race 1 of the Asia Production 250cc category.

During the qualifying session, Muhammad Kiandra Ramadhipa of the ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM secured pole position with a fastest lap time of 2’24.524s. His teammate, Herjun Atna Firdaus, qualified in second with a time of 2’24.812s, while Muhammad Faerozi of YAMAHA Racing Indonesia took third position with a time of 2’25.019s.

As the race began, Faerozi surged to the front and led the charge, followed closely by Kiandra and Herjun in third.

On Lap 2, Kiandra, who was in second position, managed to overtake Faerozi. However, Faerozi reclaimed the lead on Lap 5.

By Lap 8, Aiki Iyoshi of Motul Sniper Manual Tech, who was in fifth place, had advanced to the front and took the lead, with Herjun closely trailing in second.

The race concluded with Herjun crossing the finish line first, winning with a time of 19’36.164s.

Herjun commented, “I’m feeling really happy today. On the starting grid, I promised myself that when the opportunity came, I would seize it. I fought hard throughout the race and gave it my all, so I’m truly grateful to have secured the win. A huge thank you to my team and family for their continued support. After the disappointment of not winning in Mandalika, my home race, I’m thrilled to have redeemed myself here in Malaysia. This victory feels even more special because of it.”

Aiki Iyoshi finished in second place with a time of 19’36.169s.

Muhammad Syarifuddin Azman of the IDEMITSU Boon Siew Honda Racing Team secured third place with a time of 19’36.930s.
