Topea It was a shocker when Hiroki Ono of Japan bowed defeat to Indians, Sartak and Chiranth in Race 2 of the season opener at Chang International Circuit before landing third on the podium in the TVS Asia One Make Championship. More importantly though, what strategy would Hiroki cook up to go along with his mastery in Round 2 of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit in taking down the contenders and rising back up to fame? The Japanese rider, known for his outstanding performance, aced Race 1 with flying colours as expected like a pro would with eyes closed. However, what he may not have expected is the brewing rivalry all along that awaited its moment to strike and topple him down as happened the following day when Sartak played his cards right and hit it out of the park. Chiranth who followed suit to take the second spot on the podium after a rough battle with his countryman added on to the twist which left Hiroki no spot on the top two but to settle for the next in line. While Hiroki stays at the top of the chart for now, his closest contender, Sartak is just 5 points away from taking over. It may not be as easy as it may seem though considering Ramdan Rosli, just 10 points shy from the chart-topper might hold the upper-hand on his home-ground circuit. But again, the possibilities are endless especially with Sartak’s enhanced performance, Hiroki’s relentless pursuit and Ramdan’s desire to mark his territories and is bound to get feisty throughout the season. The question is, does Sartak have what it takes to keep the heat and momentum going? Sartak said, “Round 1 was an exciting moment for me. It was my first win which can be attributed to mental state of mind and the strategies in place. I was calmer which helped me avoid making mistakes. That win is a motivating factor at the moment although I know that Sepang circuit would be tough especially with Malaysian riders having the home-ground advantage. I will however optimise on my performance, first, through the understanding of the track and then refining of my strategies. Of course, being strong mentally is equally important. The plus at Sepang circuit would be my preference for fast corners. I am confident that I can be fast there but being a tall rider, it would be important to get a nice ride out of the turns to minimise time on the long straights. The machine has improved a lot in terms of handling which makes riding abilities better. Riding it now is much comfortable. But let’s see how it goes especially in my goals of becoming champion this season.” Ramdan on the other hand said, “At Chang circuit, my target was to win both race because I had quite a good start on Friday. But unfortunately, I had issues with my machine since Saturday and made it extremely tough for to compete among the top three. Sepang has and always will be my favourite circuit in the calendar. That is my strongest motivation – racing on my home-ground. Of course, having said that, I know it won’t be easy but I am preparing myself physically and mentally to make sure that I give my all. Strategies are also being re-worked at the moment and I will plan ahead to see what would fit best. The machine is in a better condition that it was last season in terms of performance. It also has electronic system now but would still require good measurements in every round. My goal for sure is to win both the races on my home-ground for the upcoming round and my target this season is none other than the championship title.”

NAKARIN TOPS PODIUM TWICE, WOWS HOME FANS

HONDA RACING THAILAND’s Nakarin Atiratphuvapat proudly waved the Thai flag on the ASB1000 podium as he celebrated his double win in the opening round of the 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship in front of his home crowd. After winning Race 1 on Saturday, Nakarin concluded a successful outing at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, with another commanding victory, clocking a time of 20’54:547s. Nakarin’s dominance in the ASB1000 race began as early as lap 1 when he edged past Muhammad Zaqhwan Zaidi and Azroy Hakeem Anuar of IDEMITSU HONDA RACING MALAYSIA. The Thai rider wasted no time pulling away and establishing a lead ahead of the chasing duo. As Nakarin crossed the finish line in first, Zaqhwan’s dream of securing his first victory was dashed when he ended the race in second with a time of 20’55:752s. Keito Abe of SDG HARC-PRO. HONDA PHILIPPINES rounded out the podium in third with a time of 20’57:462s. Nakarin’s solid performance at the Chang International Circuit has placed him at the top of the championship standings with a perfect 50 points. Nakarin shared, “Today, the track temperature was hot. My race pace wasn’t so fast, but I tried to concentrate on my riding, focusing only on what was in front of me. I attacked from the beginning. When I saw I had a one-second gap from the group, I controlled the pace. Towards the end, I felt more tired, and Zaqhwan was closing in, but I managed to control the situation. The opening round of the 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship witnessed Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of HONG LEONG YAMAHA RACING securing a remarkable victory in Race 2 for the SS600 class at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, today. As the race began, McKinley Kyle Paz of HONG LEONG YAMAHA RACING got off to a strong start, but it was Muhammad Syarifuddin Azman of IDEMITSU HONDA RACING MALAYSIA who led the pack.However, within seconds, the race was taken over by three Honda riders: Thanat Laoongplio of HONDA RACING THAILAND, Mohammad Adenanta Putra of ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM, and Muhammad Helmi Azman of IDEMITSU HONDA RACING MALAYSIA. On Lap 2, while Thai rider Anupab Sarmoon of YAMAHA THAILAND RACING TEAM showed impressive form on his home circuit, Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin, starting from P4, reached a top speed of 260.9 km/h and made his move, overtaking Anupab. Kasma then settled into the lead, with Anupab closely trailing 2.113s behind. The battle for third place heated up as four riders—Adenanta, Helmi, Wahyu, and Thanat—fought fiercely for the position. In a dramatic sequence, Helmi moved up from P4 to P3, but Adenanta managed to reclaim the position. Kasma held his ground and crossed the finish line smoothly with a time of 20’04:345s, taking the victory. Anupab secured second place with a time of 20’05:555s, while Adenanta finished third at 20’08:805s. Kasma said, “This victory is the power of prayers from my mother and wife. This win is for them and my team. It’s been a long time since I last stood on the podium in ARRC. Even though it’s in SS600, I am still incredibly grateful. In the race, I focused on maintaining a consistent rhythm with my lap times. However, by the time I reached the last five laps, my tires were worn, and I had to manage and take care of them. I didn’t realize that Anupab was closing in behind me, but I’m thankful to have won the first round of 2025. In a thrilling contest during opening round of 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, Fadillah Arbi Aditama of ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM secured a remarkable victory in Race 2 for AP250 at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand today. The race began with Krittapat Keankum of YAMAHA THAILAND RACING TEAM leading the pack, closely followed by Fadillah and Murobbil Vitoni of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM. During the race, while Krittapat, Fadillah, Candra H of YAMAHA RACING INDONESIA were in close contention, Cao Viet Nam of HONDA RACING VIETNAM TEAM gradually making his way up to P5. The lead changed frequently, Fadillah made his way back on top on lap 4, followed closely by Yamaha riders Murobbil, Candra, and Krittapat. Cao Viet Nam continued to climb, securing P5. The final lap saw an intense battle between Fadillah and Krittapat, who managed to pull a 2:746s gap over the second group. In the end, it was Fadillah Arbi who clinched the victory at 18’49:659s. Krittappat secured second at 18’49:808s, and Cao Viet Nam of HONDA RACING VIETNAM TEAM placed third at 18’52:953s. “At the beginning of the race, I just tried to follow Krittapat, as he had a good pace. I stayed with the group and focused on maintaining the pace. I analyzed where I could break away, and in one moment, I found a good slipstream. Krittapat was also trying to pull away, so I thought, ‘Okay, now let’s race.’ I started pushing again, especially in the last corner of the final lap. I tried to brake as late as possible, knowing that yesterday he tried something similar, and today he wouldn’t try the same. So, I braked as late as I could and managed to make it stick. Gupita Kresna Wardhana of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 achieved the near impossible in UB150 with an incredible performance in Race 2 of the opening round of the 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, held today at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand. The race saw positions change rapidly at every turn, with each rider fiercely contesting for the lead. No one allowed anyone else to maintain the top spot for long, which made the race result highly unpredictable. In a race category where, close finishes are more the norm than the exception, Gupita delivered a spectacular surprise in the final lap. Breaking free from the tightly packed group, he demonstrated exceptional skill and top speed, reaching 171.4 km/h as he accelerated down the final straight, pulling a decisive gap toward the finish line.Gupita crossed the line with a time of 16’29:405s, 0.356s ahead of the main group. Race 2 of the opening round at the 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, saw Sarthak Chavan and Chiranth Vishwanath become the pride of India after securing the top two spots on the podium in the TVS ASIA One Make Championship.The race began with young rider Hunter Corney from Australia rocketing into the lead, closely trailed by Hiroki Ono from Japan and Sarthak. Chiranth refused to stay deep within the group and sped up to join the front group. He even set a fastest lap time of 1’50:737s with a top speed of 207.3 km/h. After swapping leads for several laps, the chequered flag came down in Sarthak’s favour. The Indian rider clocked his first-ever victory in the TVS ASIA One Make Championship with a time of 14’56:976s, 0.130s ahead of Chiranth Vishwanath from India. Hiroki rounded out the winning trifecta in third place with a time of 14’57:216s. Hunter, in final lap, made contact with another bike, which caused him to lose control and drop back from the front group, ultimately losing his position in the battle for the podium. Sarthak said, “Yesterday was not so good. I could’ve qualified for P1, but it didn’t go well. I had a big contact at Turn 3, and my rear suspension got locked in the mud guard. Yesterday, I was just thinking about what to do on the next day, and today I did it. The last lap was really intense; my bike felt like it was dropping a bit of power, but it was still a great race. I managed to do a good lap time and finish in P1. After about 10 years of being here, my national anthem is finally played in ARRC. I’m happy. NAKARIN DOMINANT ON HOME SOIL

Race 1 of the opening round of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship in the ASB1000 category at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, saw Thai rider Nakarin Atiratphuvapat of HONDA RACING THAILAND clinch a commanding victory, securing the top spot on the podium. During the qualifying session, Muhammad Zaqhwan Zaidi of IDEMITSU HONDA RACING MALAYSIA earned pole position with the fastest lap time of 1’35:056s. Nakarin followed closely in second with a time of 1’35:276s, while Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah of JDT RACING TEAM secured the third grid position with a time of 1’35:378s. As the race began, Zaqhwan took the early lead, with Nakarin moving into second position ahead of Hafizh. Nakarin overtook Zaqhwan at Turn 3 on the opening lap. The top three riders quickly created a 1:550s gap from the chasing group. Running in P4, Apiwath Wongthananon of A1 ENERGY BMW RACING TEAM also began to pull away from the group in pursuit of the front-runners. Throughout the race, Nakarin and Zaqhwan exchanged the lead multiple times, displaying a fierce battle between the former teammates. By lap 6, Apiwath overtook Hafizh to move into P3, aiming to secure a podium finish on home soil. On the final lap, Nakarin was in the lead, with Zaqhwan reaching a top speed of 303.4 km/h in an attempt to close the gap. Despite the pressure, Nakarin denied the overtaking attempt and proudly crossed the finish line to take the victory with a time of 16’06:372s. Zaqhwan finished in second place with a time of 16’06:613s, while Hafizh secured third place after overtaking Apiwath on the final turn, finishing with a time of 16’11:288s. At the start of the race, Syarifuddin launched into the lead with a strong start. Thanat Laoongplio of HONDA RACING THAILAND followed closely, with Adenanta settling into third. However, Adenanta didn’t wait long. He overtook to take the lead before entering lap 2. While Md Helmi Azman of IDEMITSU HONDA RACING MALAYSIA climbed to P3, closely tracking the top two riders. On lap 3, McKinley clocked an incredible lap time of 1’53:427s to move into P3. But, the intensity of the race only grew from there, as riders fiercely battled through the corners, frequently trading positions. The final lap saw a four-way fight between Adenanta, McKinley, Wahyu Nugroho of YAMAHA RACING INDONESIA, and Thanat. In the end, Adenanta held firm and crossed the finish line first with a time of 15’00:012s. McKinley finished second at 15’00:433s, while Wahyu secured the final podium spot at 15’00:736s. FADILLAH’S BOLD WIN IN RACE 1

Fadillah Arbi Aditama of the ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM emerged victorious in a thrilling Race 1 of the AP250 category at the opening round of the 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, held at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. In the qualifying session, Krittapat Keankum of the YAMAHA THAILAND RACING TEAM secured pole position with a fastest lap time of 1’50:603s. Fadillah followed closely in second with a time of 1’50:867s, while Riichi Takahira of TY ANTARES RACING TEAM qualified third at 1’51:614s. As the race began, Krittapat got off to a strong start, followed closely by Fadillah and Candra H of YAMAHA RACING INDONESIA, who held P2 and P3 respectively. Krittapat, Fadillah, and Candra quickly pulled away from the rest of the field, creating a 1:576s gap from the second group early in the race. On lap 3, Candra set an impressive lap time of 1’51:833s to take the lead. However, both Fadillah and Krittapat soon reclaimed the top positions in a tense back-and-forth battle. The final lap saw Fadillah redeem himself by crossing the finish line first with a time of 18’44:334s, followed by Candra at 18’46:404s. Davino Britani of ASTRA HONDA RACING TEAM rounded out the podium with a time of 18’46:647s. Krittapat, who had shown tremendous pace throughout the race, entered last turn too aggressively, hoping to come out first for the run to the finish line, however he lost the front-end grip upon entry, resulting an unfortunate P16 for the pole setter. Fadillah said, “This was a really tough race. I thought it was going to rain, but it didn’t. And now, right after the finish, it’s started raining again! From the beginning, I focused on maintaining my pace because I knew I had the speed and understood my braking points. On the last lap, I gave it everything. I knew Krittapat would try to attack me at the final corner, so I decided to brake late. I was right on the limit and didn’t want to force a battle there, so when he went in too deep, I saw the opportunity, cut back inside, and took the win. HUSNI VICTORIOUS AT CHANG

Race 1 of the opening round of the 2025 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, delivered a thrilling spectacle in the UB150 category. Husni Zainul Fuadzy of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 emerged victorious after an intense battle. In the Super Pole session, Shahrol Syazras Shahrol Yuzy of ESTREMO YUZY ASIA TEAM set the fastest lap time of 2’01:447s to secure pole position. He was followed by Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM with a time of 2’02:379s, while Husni qualified third at 2’02:766s. The race began with Syazras making a strong start to take the lead. Though frequently challenged, he managed to reclaim and maintain his position at the front. As Syazras maintained a steady pace in P1, riders behind him swapped positions at nearly every turn in a tightly contested race. Syazras built a gap of 0:510s ahead of the chasing group. However, the unpredictable nature of the UB150 category saw the pack close the gap in a matter of seconds. On the final lap, with pressure mounting, Husni surged into P1 and crossed the chequered flag to claim victory with a time of 16’21:843s. Fahmi initially finished second with a time of 16’21:894s, while Syazras completed the race in third at 16’22:011s. However, Fahmi was penalised one position for exceeding track limits at the final corner. Syazras who was supposed to take over was also penalised due to technical infringement. Next in line, Ahmad Afif Amran was announced for second place. Husni said, “I’m really grateful to have won today, and I hope I can deliver the same result tomorrow. It started to rain during the last two laps, so I had to be more cautious, but in the end, I still pushed beyond the limit to secure the victory.
