Round 6 of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, witnessed an intense Race 2 in the UB150 category, where Thailand’s Peerapong Luiboonpeng of ONE FOR ALL clinched a dramatic home victory, while Husni Zainul Fuadzy secured the UB150 Overall Championship title for 2025. The race began with Ahmad Afif Amran of Pitsbike SuperFast JRT Rapido Racing Team making a solid launch to take the early lead, but with the nature of UB150 racing, positions changed rapidly from the very first lap. By Lap 2, all 27 riders were locked in a single large pack, with no one able to break away or create a meaningful gap. On Lap 3, Peerapong briefly took command before being overtaken by Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM. By Lap 5, Afif fought his way back to the front, while Fahmi and Dimas Juli Atmoko of RACETECH SIXTY Racing consistently kept themselves among the top group, navigating the chaos of the slipstream battles. Lap 6 saw Nazirul Izzat Md Bahauddin of UMA RACING YAMAHA MAJU MOTOR ASIA TEAM deliver the fastest lap of the race with a 2’02.132s, climbing from 15th to sixth. But in UB150, nothing was secure as the positions continued to shuffle turn by turn. Entering the final lap, the aggression intensified. Riders lunged from every angle in a desperate fight for victory. Ultimately, it was Thailand’s own Peerapong who emerged from the chaos to take the chequered flag on home soil with a winning time of 16’31.710s. John Emerson Inguito of 4S1M EVO YAMAHA Racing Team finished second at 16’31.778s, while Gupita Kresna Wardhana of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 secured third in 16’32.148s after a tight sprint to the line. Round 6 of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2025 delivered an action-packed Race 1 in the UB150 class at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram, Thailand, with overall champion, Husni Zainul Fuadzy of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 claimed victory. From the race start, Malaysia’s Ahmad Afif Amran of Pitsbike Superfast JRT Racing Team rocketed to the front and controlled the early pace. However, as typical of the fiercely competitive UB150 class, positions behind him shuffled rapidly through the opening turns. By Lap 2, Muhammad Adib Arsyad Mohd Hisam of UMA RACING YAMAHA MAJU MOTOR ASIA seized the lead, forcing Afif momentarily down to ninth. But the Malaysian star quickly regrouped and stormed back to the front on Lap 3, rejoining the lead pack. The race intensified on Lap 5, when Indonesia’s Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM clocked the fastest lap time 2’01.128s to latch onto the front group. As riders launched their last-lap attacks, the battle for victory remained completely unpredictable. CAN AFIF MAKE THE CUT?

Husni Zainul Fuadzy of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 claimed the championship title early and in style for the Underbone 150cc race category of IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship during Round 5 which leaves the 1st runner up a hot, second most sought after spot among the riders. But only one will make it and among the top three contenders, Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM, Ahmad Afif Amran of Pitsbike Superfast JRT Rapido Racing Team and Dimas Juli Atmoko of RACETECH SIXTY RACING, it is unclear who will most likely bag the limelight considering the close contention. Malaysian rider, Afif may not have taken the spotlight in the beginning of the season, more so with a double “DNF” between Round 2 and Round 3 however, the rider made headlines when he banked in 50 points on his home-ground circuit, instantly placing him among those in contention for the 1st runner up position. Currently sitting third in the overall standings with a total of 125 points, he has two situations to deal with – one, to steer closer towards the 1st runner up spot and another, to eliminate possibilities of dropping down a notch. Clearly, it would be a tough bet considering Fahmi’s and Dimas’ level of competencies which are equivalent to that of Afif’s. During Round 1, all three of them fought the raging fury on the final turn before wrapping up the weekend with a podium-finish each. This further accentuates the anticipation of rivalry, brewing silently before the final showdown and for those under the pressure, it would be a test that either breaks or makes them. The UB150 race category is not one to mess with especially with its unpredictable nature so, will this be a matter of luck of brilliance? Commenting on the upcoming race, Afif said, “I will use the experiences that I have gained to manage and overcome any kind of challenges, if I can and also to find the best possible machine setup for the race. Of course, I do understand the possibilities that are endless – the nature of the race itself being unpredictable. For now, I will not deny that my machine is in an optimised condition so there may not be major changes on that. The tricky bit is that, all teams have their strengths, with different capacities and they might just find the right setup for their machines at the very least expected time. So, I have to always be aware of the possible outcomes and keep focused on my goal.” “Personally, I don’t think I have much advantage on Chang circuit because all the riders have their own data and they are all aware of the layout and techniques that is most effective on the circuit ground. All I can do is my version of the best – use my very own insights and professional capacity to avoid errors and minimise risks at all cost. Frankly, the last two races were exceptional because my team has found the right setup for Sepang ground. But for Chang, I am confident that Fahmi and Dimas will put on their best show. They are strong contenders with great experience – brilliant in their strategies and manoeuvrings, so the final showdown is going to be a tough one. I just want to complete the race and collect as much points as I can for the championship. If this season doesn’t work for me, I will do better in the next – and that’s how I plan to end the season.”

By Lap 2, Husni and his teammate Gupita Kresna Wardhana took control at the front, with Afif and his teammate Md Akid Aziz from Pitsbike Superfast JRT Rapido Racing Team in close pursuit. The pack remained tight, with no rider able to break away as positions shuffled at every corner. On Lap 4, Peerapong Luiboonpeng of ONE FOR ALL surged into the lead, though the relentless pressure from the front group ensured the race remained wide open. The battle intensified further on Lap 5, with constant changes at the sharp end of the field. The decisive moment came on the final lap. As the group powered into the last corner, Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM looked poised for victory, sprinting ahead. However, Afif found an opening, unleashing a blistering drive to the line and snatching victory by just 0.006s with a winning time of 15’45.824s. Fahmi had to settle for second at 15’45.830s, while M. Syirat Sauki of 4S1M EVO YAMAHA Racing Team completed the podium at 15’45.977s. It was a double delight for Afif, who sealed both Race 1 and Race 2 wins in Sepang. However, the bigger celebration belonged to Husni, who was officially crowned the 2025 UB150 Champion after collecting 202 points, 62 points clear of runner-up Fahmi Basam, an unassailable margin with one round remaining. Husni said, “Alhamdulillah, all praise to God. I am grateful to my family who have prayed for me. Through the prayers of my family and friends in Indonesia, I was able to become the ARRC champion this season. To my team and my boss, thank you very much for giving me this valuable opportunity. Afif made a strong start, initially taking the lead, but the opening corners saw rapid position changes as the pack jostled for supremacy. By Lap 2, Afif regained the lead, closely shadowed by Indonesia’s Gupita Kresna Wardhana of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34, Dimas Juli Atmoko of RACETECH SIXTY Racing, Peerapong Luiboonpeng of ONE FOR ALL, and April King Mascardo of UMA MMR YAMAHA PHILIPPINE RACING TEAM. Peerapong later slowed with technical issues and retired from the race. Lap 3 saw Afif drop to ninth in split seconds, with Wahyu Aji Trilaksana of RACETECH SIXTY Racing leading, before April made a bold move to take the front. On Lap 4, Danial Damar of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM surged ahead, while Afif recovered to second, maintaining relentless pressure. The tightly packed group continued to swap positions, with all riders separated by less than a second.By Lap 5, Adytya Fauzi of JPNW SND FACTORY RACING, who served penalty by starting from pit lane, charged up to second position, setting the stage for an electrifying finale. On the final lap, Afif unleashed a masterful attack, accelerating past the group and creating an uncatchable 1.358s gap to claim the checkered flag in 15’43.856s. Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM held on for second at 15’45.070s, while Husni Zainul Fuadzy of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 completed the podium in 15’45.075s. Ahmad Afif commented, “At the beginning of the lap, I tried to break away but wasn’t successful, so I had to stay in the front group first. On the last lap, I tried once again and bet on it. I pushed a bit too early at the first turn, usually riders push at Sector 3 or Sector 4. I tried to take that chance and make the most of it, and Alhamdulillah, I saw the gap growing and just maintained the speed until the finish line. I believe tomorrow’s race will be even tougher, so I need to plan a new strategy because today they might have figured out mine. Let’s see how tomorrow’s race will turn out. Thank you to the team, and not forgetting the crew who worked very hard this year. Alhamdulillah, in this round we managed to be on the podium.” TOP 5 FASTEST – RACE 1

DIMAS SET BENCHMARK

Round 5 of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2025 happened today at the Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia, witnessed riders battled both the heat and the technical track in the opening two practice sessions for UB150 class. DIMAS, FIRED UP!

Without a shadow of doubt, the road to stardom for Husni Zainul Fuadzy of ZIEAR LFN HP969 MCR RBT 34 in the Underbone 150cc race category is paved in gold and while he lost his chances of claiming the crown early at Mandalika, his moment to shine may just show up in Round 5 at Sepang International Circuit. What spins the narratives differently though is the story of Fahmi Basam of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM and Dimas Juli Atmoko of RACETECH SIXTY RACING who will take their battle to the next level for the 1st runner spot. After his double-win, Dimas quickly scaled three spots up to the third place, with only a 3-point difference with his closest contender Fahmi who currently graces the second spot. But turning the tables around may not be a completely easy task in the UB150 race category known for its highly competitive battlefield and unpredictability, especially with a rival fully equipped with the capacities needed to maintain his game plan. Over the course of eight races, Fahmi has not only showcased his prowess but has also stepped up onto the podium five times, making him one of the finest contenders to the troop of riders. Dimas on the other hand is not bad himself considering the three podium-finish he obtained to-date however what could be a concerning factor in the upcoming round is his double DNF on Sepang grounds in round 2. Could he overcome the fears of possible shortcomings, keep up to his winning momentum and glide to a celebratory finish at Sepang? Not forgetting the likes of Malaysian teammates, Ahmad Afif Amran and Md Akid Aziz of PITSBIKE SUPERFAST JRT RACING TEAM who are sure to speed up on their familiar grounds. Commenting further, Dimas said, “The win at Mandalika was definitely attributed to the machine condition especially since we have been working hard to fine-tune the setup from the beginning of the season. The difference back then and now, I would say is that, I was too hesitant to take risky moves due to the regulations. For the coming round at Sepang, thankfully, we already have data from the previous race. Maybe back then it was not my lucky day, or maybe, I did not have it in me. But right now, more so with the double-win, I am more confident and I think I can do well enough to take a step up on the podium.” “With a 3-point difference, my motivation level has fired up. I finally stand a chance to be at the top three positions. Of course, racing to the top is not possible at the moment but surely, the top three spots are still open for contention. Racing is not always about skills and speed, especially in the Underbone race category whereby everyone is on par in terms of competency and everyone has a chance to strike the iron while its hot. It also has a lot to do with luck too. I am prepared physically and mentally and I will for sure give my all to hit my target. The only thing I hope for now is that luck will be on my side as well by God’s grace.”
