Round 5 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 delivered an unforgettable Race 1 in the UB150 category at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Husni Zainul Fuadzy of ZIEAR LFN HP969 ADELIN MCR RBT34 clinched a remarkable victory, wrapping up the overall championship title early to successfully defend his crown for the second consecutive season.
Earlier in Qualifying, Dimas Juli Atmoko of HJS YOUNGSTAR KAWAHARA RCTH SIXTY secured pole position with a lap of 2’33.596s, alongside M. Syirat Sauki of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM. However, the starting grid saw major change when Muhammad Adib Arsyad Mohd Hisam of UMA RACING YAMAHA MAJU MOTOR TEAM, Ahmad Darwisy Ahmad Sahir of MOTUL HONDA ASIA TEAM, and Adytya Fauzi of JPNW SND FACTORY RACING were penalized for riding slowly in Practice 2, forcing them to start the race from the pit exit.
When the race began, Husni seized the lead, closely trailed by John Emerson Inguito of 4S1M EVO YAMAHA Racing Team and Dimas. By lap 2, Shahrol Syazras Shahrol Yuzy of MOTUL HONDA ASIA TEAM sliced through into second to shadow the leader. Lap 3 saw intense battle with Husni, Dimas, and Syazras traded positions at the front. Behind them, Adib produced a breathtaking recovery charge from pit lane, posting a fastest lap of 2’40.160s to miraculously climb into second place alongside Fadli Rigani of YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA RACING TEAM.
Adib lowered the benchmark again on lap 5 with a 2’39.477s to fight for the lead against John, Rendi Odding, Husni, and Dimas. With the massive pack refusing to split, the front-runners continuously reshuffled.
On the final lap, Syirat momentarily led before Husni and Syazras launched a counterattack. Exiting the final turn onto the front straight, Syazras held the edge, but Husni and Fadli capitalized on the slipstream. In a three-way finish, Husni crossed the line first at 16’12.432s, pipping Fadli by 0.032s, while Syazras claimed third just 0.053s behind the winner.
Husni expressed, “Syukur Alhamdulillah. Words cannot describe how grateful I am today. First and foremost, a massive thank you to my entire team, every single member who has worked tirelessly and poured their heart and soul into this season. This is also for my family back home in Indonesia, whose prayers carried me through every race.”
“Yesterday was terrifying as I suffered quite a nasty crash. But thankfully, I walked away without broken bones and was cleared to race. I knew I couldn’t give up, it made me want to come back stronger. Today, Allah truly blessed my efforts and rewarded all our sacrifices, allowing us to seal the championship title early. Defending this title two years in a row means the world to us, and this victory belongs to everyone who believed in me.”
