Race 1 of Round 6 IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, delivered a thrilling spectacle in the UB150 category, with M. Murobbil Vittoni of the YAMAHA LFN HP969 INDONESIA Racing Team emerging victorious after an intense battle.
In the Super Pole session, Murobbil set the fastest lap time of 2’02:457s to secure pole position. He was followed by Adytya Fauzi of the RACETECH SIXTY Racing Team, who posted a time of 2’02:500s, and Ahmad Fazrul Sham of the CARDINALS FACTORY RACING TEAM ARRC, who qualified third with a time of 2’03:086s.
The race kicked off with Murobbil making a powerful start to take the lead, but his position was constantly challenged as riders swapped positions at nearly every turn. The unpredictable nature of the UB150 category kept spectators on the edge of their seats, with fortunes changing throughout the race.
The championship leader, Md Akid Aziz of PitsBike OneWay JRT Tech2 Racing Team, displayed patience and focus, maintaining a steady pace while other riders aggressively jockeyed for position.
Reigning 2023 champion Nazirul Izzat Md Bahauddin of UMA Racing YAMAHA Maju Motor Asia Team was forced to retire from the race due to a technical issue, narrowing his hopes of defending the title.
In the final two laps, Akid, starting from P16, made a remarkable charge up the field. Adytya, who had led for much of the race, initially created a large gap, but the group quickly closed in, with Akid trailing closely behind.
The race reached its most crucial moment in the final turn, where a handful of riders crashed as they fought for position. Taking advantage of the chaos, Murobbil surged ahead to cross the finish line first, securing the victory with a time of 16’28:200s.
“I’m incredibly happy to have secured the victory today,” Murobbil said after the race. “It’s a great feeling to see all my hard work and preparation come together in such a competitive race. I gave my best out there, and it’s rewarding to come out on top. Looking ahead to tomorrow, I’m determined to build on this performance. I know Race 2 will be another tough challenge, but I’m confident in my ability and the support of my team. My goal is to keep improving, stay focused, and hopefully secure another win. I’ll be giving it my all to make that happen.”
Adytya Fauzi finished in second place with a time of 16’28:279s, while Husni claimed third place with a time of 16’28:471s.
