November 30, 2020   Official Statement   2021 FIM ASIA ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP Provisional 2021 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship   The FIM Asia Road Racing Championship is excited to release a provisional calendar for the 2021 season comprising of six rounds.   In a cautious move to give plenty of buffer for any lingering pandemic-related travel restrictions, the 2021 season will start late, beginning only in June.   The Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia is expected to host the first two season openers with Round 1 taking place from June 4 to 6, followed quickly by Round 2 from June 11 to 13, 2021. The circus will then travel to the Zhuhai International Circuit in China for Round 3 from July 30 to August 1 followed by the fourth leg at The Bend Motorsport Park in Australia from September 23 to 26. Two more consecutive rounds at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand will wrap up the season with Round 5 scheduled from November 19 to 21 followed by the season finale from November 26 to 28, 2021.   Ron Hogg, Director, Two Wheels Motor Racing “2020 has been a challenging year for all sporting events. It has come to our attention that some parties are exploiting the use of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship name, logo, and all other forms of its symbols to unlawfully take advantage and monetize the sale of fake tickets. We would like to inform all fans in China that, with the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no ARRC races in China this year. The tickets shown in the example above are fake and constitutes an illegal use of the official marks of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. September 9, 2020 Official Statement 2020 FIM ASIA ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP Season 2020 Called Off Due To Travel Restrictions The 2020 season of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship has been called off. As a result of stronger border restrictions and quarantine procedures, many of the international teams and riders will not be able to travel to the host venues. In agreement with FIM Asia and the teams and riders, series promoters Two Wheels Motor Racing has decided to cancel the 2020 edition. This will be the first time in the Championship’s 25-year history that a season has had to be cancelled. But the current global health crisis remains a source of concern with cross-country travel largely restricted in many countries. Ron Hogg, Director, Two Wheels Motor Racing “We have exhausted all possibilities to bring everyone together for at least a few more rounds to meet the minimum requirements to declare a 2020 champion. Regrettably, without any prospect of deregulation of immigration restriction on visitors in sight, we have had no choice but to declare the cancellation of the 2020 season. With no possibility of continuing the season, this effectively renders the 2020 Championship null and void and no champions will be declared for this year. We extend our apologies and regrets to all the fans of Asian racing who have been looking forward to the re-scheduled start of the series. We also extend our sincere apologies to the stakeholders involved, especially our sponsors and circuit partners. We thank everyone for their kind understanding and cooperation. Excelling in any highly competitive requirement is first and foremost, an act of will. Mental strength if a major factor that must be carefully sharpened to continue to be confident in the face of strong opponents, pressure and unexpected challenges. The same principle works for successful riders at every step of their career. This was shared by the proud Yamaha Racing Indonesia rider, M. Faerozi, who for the past two years had been competing in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. Faerozi made his Asian debut via the Asia Production 250 (AP250) class in 2018 and ended his first season 14th on the standings. A year later, Faerozi placed himself 11th in the AP250 class. Having honed his skills in the AP250 for two years, the East Java-born rider earned himself a ride in the SuperSports 600cc (SS600) category in 2020. At the Sepang International Circuit for the 2020 season opener, Faerozi proved that he was up to the challenge when he finished Race 1 in the points, but crashed out of Race 2. “Mentally, riders have to be strong because there are always new challenges. The higher class you move up to, the higher level of mental strength you will need. Having earned the trust from Yamaha to move up to the SS600, it was a responsibility that I must fulfil,” said Faerozi. For Faerozi, consistent training is part of his ritual to elevate his mental strength. He does regular and consistent training as part of his determination to quickly master YZF-R6 and to be more sensitive to get better engine and suspension settings. “I see the SS600 class as an exciting challenge that can be conquered with renewed courage. I’m a rookie as far as the SS600 competitors are concerned, and making inroads into this class will call for a process that requires time, focus and maximum performance.” Luckily for Faerozi, the experience he gained training with MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi in the 2018 VR46 Riders Academy Master Camp, had given him the tools he needed to prepare himself for any eventualities. The young Indonesian underwent MiniGP, go-kart and YZF-R3 training at Misano Circuit, Italy as well as flat-track at VR46 Motor Ranch, Tavullia. Faerozi’s childhood dream to meet Valentino Rossi in person was also realized. “Meeting Valentino Rossi while training at VR46 Academy was a great experience because he is my idol and I really appreciate he took the time to meet us in person. From the VR46 Academy, I gained a lot of knowledge, confidence and mental training as well as self-control, thought pattern, emotion. I am happy and proud to be part of that master camp,” says M.Faerozi. Faerozi has vowed keep learning enthusiastically until he reaches the peak of his dream on the world stage. The principle he holds is that nothing is impossible if he continues to fight. He wants to feel proud to be a champion on the international stage because it also means raising the Indonesia name, flying Merah Putih (Red and White) flag and Indonesia Raya national anthem that reverberates in any country he competes in.

While international racing is still feeling the constraints of the Covid-19 pandemic, motorsports racing at the domestic level has been activated in certain Asian countries. In Vietnam, the situation improved enough for two rounds of the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC) to be hosted.   Honda Vietnam brought some star power to the event when the team’s top riders joined the event as competitors and ambassadors. Nguyen Anh Tuan emerged as the Round 2 winner of the UB130 class while Nguyen Duc Thanh captured the championship lead for the MSX125cc category.   The team’s lead rider, Cao Viet Nam, was also present in the paddocks. “Even though I wasn’t competing, I wanted to be there to lend support to the riders and the event organizers,” he explained.   The VMRC consists of five categories – the Vietnam Talent Cup (NSF100), the Blade 110cc, MSX 125cc, Winner 150cc and UB130cc. The championship had tabled six rounds for the 2020 season. However, at the time of writing, the championship had announced the postponement of Round 3.

In response to the ever:evolving global health concerns related to the COVID:19 (Coronavirus), the 2020 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship wishes to inform its partners, teams, riders, officials, fans and media that Round 5 at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand (originally scheduled for August 21 to 23), will be postponed. Two Wheels Motor Racing is working closely with the Chang International Circuit, and the FIM Asia to find a suitable alternate date. As the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship draws participants from more than 11 countries, the differing travel restrictions and quarantine processes has made coordination efforts to assemble the grid quite challenging. The new date, as well as the amended 2020 calendar will be announced as soon as possible. The FIM Asia Road Racing Championship has inked an agreement with Italian motorsports channel, MS MotorTV to broadcast the full races of the 2020 season on Italian TV. MS MotorTV is an Italian television channel which broadcasts on Sky Italia Channel 228 and owns a network of channel in digital terrestrial named MS Sport. Under the terms of the agreement, the full races comprising of the ASB1000, SS600, AP250 and UB150 will be telecast on a delayed basis with Italian commentary on MS MotorTV.
