Izzat Determined to Make a Comeback This Season Malaysian rider Md Izzat Zaidi Md Salehan of Pitsbike JRT One Way is covering all bases for the next round of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The seasoned Underbone 150cc rider who scored the first spot at the podium in Race 1 only managed to finish tenth in Race 2. In 2018, Izzat took an overall standing at the second spot on the podium and is determined to make his comeback for the season. Commenting on Round 1, “The Underbone race is always a highly competitive one and being among the best often has its ups and downs. On the up, it is a good platform to measure my performance as a rider while being the push that is needed to consistently keep up to the mark. Then, there are the external factors too. Race 2 was quite a challenge especially the unexpected heat in Buriram which made handling more strenuous.” “For Round 2, my aim is to make it to Top 5. Of course, this would require me to sharpen my skillset and strategize my moves that would go well with the circuit layout. I hope to give my best shot. ” For a first-timer at the ARRC, Pitsbike JRT One Way team stays positive and looks forward to the upcoming race. VIETNAMESE RIDER STAY OPTIMISTIC FOR SEPANG

Nguyen Anh Tuan of HONDA Racing Team is learning the ropes and is optimistic about his ride at Round 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The Vietnamese rider who rides the Honda Winner 150 logged in 8th in Race 1 and 13th in Race 2. Anh Tuan first took the scene of the ARRC in the last round of 2019. Prior to that, he was actively striding in the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC) where he reigned as champion for year 2017-2019. Keeping his chin up, Anh Tuan said, “The ARRC is a whole new battlefield for me. While Round 1 was an exciting experience, it was not an easy feat as these Underbone riders have earned their strength and reputation through years of experience. I try to pick up as much as I can from them to fast track my moves.” Commenting on the race at Sepang, he said, “I am a bundle of nerves when it comes to racing in Sepang as there will be many dexterous Malaysian riders nevertheless, I am gearing up through practices and fitness trainings. TVS Racing have selected eight outstanding riders from the Asian countries to participate in the upcoming TVS Asia One-Make Championship

TVS ASIA ONE-MAKE COMPLETES ITS RIDER SELECTION

TVS Racing have selected eight outstanding riders from the Asian countries to participate in the upcoming TVS Asia One-Make Championship that will be held alongside the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) on the 28th-29th May 2022 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). The riders who are from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan and Philippines took their first stride on the TVS Apache RR310 machine which is a factory production of the TVS Motor Company, India and will take part in the upcoming Round 2 of the ARRC. Commenting on the selection process, TVS Racing Team Manager, B Selvaraj said, “We focus on One-Make to allow modifications on the machine that would provide us with key feedback for the advancement and development of our products.” “The criteria of rider selection, more importantly looks into the experience of riders and latest best achievements apart from the lap timings which would go the distance in selecting the best riders for this one-make championship. Additionally, we also take into consideration the consistency and adaptability of riders towards the machine.” TVS Asia One-Make Championship stemmed from the idea of discovering new talents in the Asian region consequently opening a pathway for a comprehensive development of the motorsport industry within these countries. Two Wheels Motor Racing announces its partnership with TVS Racing, the factory racing team of TVS Motor Company of its participation in the TVS Asia One-Make Championship that will run alongside FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The championship will see a total of sixteen riders from all over Asia who will be finalised on 27th April, 2022 for the first year. The selection will be held at the Sepang International Circuit where Round 2 of the ARRC will take place in May. The season opener of FIM Asia Road Racing Championship came to a victorious end for the Thais when Apiwath Wongthananon of YAMAHA Thailand Racing Team emerged fastest in the ASB1000 category. The mind-blowing session witnessed the performance of highly competitive riders who ramped up their efforts in the last race of the season to grab the winning title. Apiwath who took the second row on the grid picked up speed in the first three laps while competing with Haruki and Zaqhwan before taking the lead in lap four. The race saw a robust stride between the trio as they took turns to be at the top three position. In lap seven, Apiwath fell behind landing him in fifth position but quickly regained his pace to catch up with his top contenders. While Zaqhwan took the lead and Haruki followed close behind, Anupab glided into the top three position and Apiwat continued to strengthen his pace. By the twelfth lap, Apiwath managed to circle in to the top three position. The final lap saw a hard fight between the three big names and at the final turn, it was a neck-to-neck between Apiwath and Zaqhwan.  Towards the last seconds of the race, the vigorous Yamaha YZF-R1M rider beat Zaqhwan to the draw, clocking in at 21:02:530s. “I made a slip in the mid of the laps however I was quick to pick it up and re-strategise. Mohd Helmi Azman of Boon Siew HONDA Racing Team made a triumphant win when he emerged fastest in SS600 category, ahead by a blistering 4.9 seconds. The race flagged off to a highly competitive battle among riders of great calibre and while Helmi struggled to keep his pace up for the first five laps, Andi Farid Izdihar did not budge from the lead position. But luck was not on Andi’s side when he took a fall consequently opening the pathway for Helmi to take on the lead in full speed. It’s a win for Malaysian rider Ahmad Afif Amran of Cardinals Racing Team at the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship when he emerged fastest in the Underbone 150cc category, Race 2. Afif who took the fourth position on the grid picked up his pace at the third lap, re-positioning himself second among the troupe of riders. It was a battle between Afif and the rider before him but at the fourth lap, Afif managed to stride ahead and take the lead.  Afif flaunted his skills when he raced out of the traps in lap five and sped ahead leaving a trail of riders chasing after him. The much-anticipated race kept everyone at the edge of their seats as Zaqhwan who rode on the Honda CBR1000 RR R showcased his flawless tactics, riding swiftly along the first seven laps before making a calculated move to the top two position.  Towards the end of the race, the heat was on between Zaqhwan and Haruki Noguchi, the poleman who maintained his position at top speed through 11 laps. Andi Farid Izdihar of ASTRA HONDA Racing Team smashed the Race 1 of SuperSports 600cc at the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship when he emerged first in what was a battle among Asia’s best. Getting off to a flying start from a pole position, Andi laboured through the first few laps at top speed, maintaining his rank at the top two spots. Working up their speed close behind Andi were duo, Nakarin Atiratphuvapat and Mohd Helmi Azman. By midpoint, it was a neck-to-neck battle between the trio. Towards the last few laps, Nakarin pulled through ahead of Andi and took the lead while Andi dropped to the second-best spot.
