Honda Asia-Dream Racing with SHOWA rider, Gerry Salim is thrilled to ride at the Sepang International Circuit for Round 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The dexterous ASB1000 rider has gathered experience from numerous international platforms however riding at the ARRC proved to be an entirely different ballgame for Gerry. It was not his best moment at Round 1 as he struggled with his pace. Gerry scored the 8th and 9th spot for Race 1 and 2 respectively. Commenting on the race in Round 1, Gerry said, “It was not a satisfactory race for me as I encountered issues with the setup of the Honda CBR1000RR R, one of which would have been manageable with more lap time.” “My challenge for Round 2 would be closing the gaps between the riders leading the pack. I intend to pick up some pointers from my teammate Zaqhwan who is more familiar and experienced with the circuit. I look forward to improving my performance at Round 2.” As for the team manager, Mr Makoto Tamada said, “The team is working on the settings of the bike to ensure that safety is of utmost priority while speed is up to the mark.” “Our strategies are designed to heighten the performances of our riders and to achieve the best outcome. Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of ONEXOX BMW TKKR Team stays positive for Round 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship in Sepang this weekend. Undoubtedly, the season opener foresaw a challenging feat with world class riders pacing to beat the clock. Azlan however was seen consumed by the tensity that the game brought along after a two-year long hiatus as he toiled to set his pace. Azlan succumbed to Race 1 after three laps but made a quick recovery in Race 2, landing himself at the tenth spot despite the mechanical issues that he faced. According to Azlan, “We struggled quite a bit in Round 1 due to the machine’s electronic systems. We certainly did not have a solid base to begin with for our race setup hence the failure to achieve a strong finish.” Azlan has been on the crest of a wave and not being able to immerse himself completely in Round 1 would be the push that he needs to perform better in Round 2. Azlan is no stranger to the Sepang Circuit. In 2019, he bagged the top spot at the podium for races at the circuit and anticipates a better outcome. “For Round 2, we are more confident with the machine as we have gained pertinent data from the race in MSBK in year 2021. It was aces for Md Helmi Azman of Boon Siew HONDA Racing Team at the Round 1 of FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The SS600 category rider who strides on the Honda CBR600 RR bagged the spot at the podium, twice that weekend placing him on the top of the scoreboard. Helmi reigned as the Underbone 150cc champion in year 2018 and took his first chance at the Supersports 600cc in 2019. His success at the Chang International Circuit is a statement made to an enhanced performance even with the two-year hiatus. Commenting on the race, “The race at Buriram was not an easy feat as I was competing with some of the best riders. As for Round 2, Sepang Circuit comes with a technical challenge which would require finer manoeuvring skills.” “While I am comfortable with my machine, Round 2 would see riders pushing through at their best speed. GALANG GOES FULL-ON FOR ROUND 2 AT SEPANG

Galang Hendra Pratama is going full-on as Round 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship draws in. The world championship rider was not very pleased with his performances in Round 1 nevertheless he is going the extra mile to stay ahead of the game. Commenting on the race, “It was my first time back in ARRC after a couple of years and Round 1 was definitely a valuable lesson. From what I gather, I have to maintain my physical and mental health with regular practices. To buck up on my performances, I do constant race simulations using the virtual reality device at home.” Galang made his debut in the ARRC in year 2015 for the AP250 category. Being a first timer in the SS600 category among some of the best names, the Indonesian rider of Yamaha Racing Indonesia has to find his strength and upgrade his performances quick enough to stay on par with the troop. In Round 1, Galang was caught in a stiff battle, grappling to find his momentum. He landed on the 6th and 8th spot for race 1 and 2 respectively. Galang said, “The biggest challenge for me is to adapt to change. I have raced in Sepang circuit with a 250cc machine for half-track. Md Akid Aziz of ONEXOX TKKR Racing Team hopes to perform better at Round 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship for the Asia Production 250cc category. Akid, fondly known and applauded as the first Malaysian Underbone Champion in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, 2017 hit the circuit once again after a long drought with a new challenge in the AP250 category. As a rookie in the AP250 class, the season opener of the ARRC was an uphill battle for Akid who grappled among the best to find his pace at The Chang International Circuit, Buriram. In Race 1, Akid only completed four laps, adding on to the strain of being new to the scene. While he completed Race 2 at the twelfth spot, Akid who rode the Yamaha YZF-R25 is determined to use the experiences gained in Round 1 to strategize his moves further for the upcoming race at Sepang. According to Akid, “As this is my first race in the AP250 category, it is fairly a new experience for me. I am still trying to get a hold of the new machine with larger capacities. My biggest challenge would be finding the right setup of the suspension and my compatibility towards the machine.” “For Round 2, my team mate, Md Muzakkir Mohamed and I will be riding the Honda CBR250 RR for an enhanced performance. Andy Muhammad Fadly of Motul Sniper Manual Tech Racing Team is all geared up for yet another challenge of AP250 at the Sepang International Circuit. The defending champion of year 2019 made a strong comeback when he finished Race 2 at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram living up to his title. The Indonesian lad who rides the Kawasaki Ninja 250 put on a good show in both races, riding alongside some of the best names in the championship. Round 1 saw a neck-to-neck battle between the AP250 riders and although Andy only managed to score third in Race 1, he was all smiles at the end of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship, Round 1 when he took the lead and defeated his contender. Andy is quite the name on the AP250 ground. Having been in the game for over a decade, he has built his momentum and perfected his skills to match the needs of handling a machine that supersedes the speed and performances of rivalry. While some setbacks are unavoidable, Andy has his way of working around it. Izzat Determined to Make a Comeback This Season Malaysian rider Md Izzat Zaidi Md Salehan of Pitsbike JRT One Way is covering all bases for the next round of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The seasoned Underbone 150cc rider who scored the first spot at the podium in Race 1 only managed to finish tenth in Race 2. In 2018, Izzat took an overall standing at the second spot on the podium and is determined to make his comeback for the season. Commenting on Round 1, “The Underbone race is always a highly competitive one and being among the best often has its ups and downs. On the up, it is a good platform to measure my performance as a rider while being the push that is needed to consistently keep up to the mark. Then, there are the external factors too. Race 2 was quite a challenge especially the unexpected heat in Buriram which made handling more strenuous.” “For Round 2, my aim is to make it to Top 5. Of course, this would require me to sharpen my skillset and strategize my moves that would go well with the circuit layout. Nguyen Anh Tuan of HONDA Racing Team is learning the ropes and is optimistic about his ride at Round 2 of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The Vietnamese rider who rides the Honda Winner 150 logged in 8th in Race 1 and 13th in Race 2. Anh Tuan first took the scene of the ARRC in the last round of 2019. Prior to that, he was actively striding in the Vietnam Motor Racing Championship (VMRC) where he reigned as champion for year 2017-2019. Keeping his chin up, Anh Tuan said, “The ARRC is a whole new battlefield for me. While Round 1 was an exciting experience, it was not an easy feat as these Underbone riders have earned their strength and reputation through years of experience. I try to pick up as much as I can from them to fast track my moves.” Commenting on the race at Sepang, he said, “I am a bundle of nerves when it comes to racing in Sepang as there will be many dexterous Malaysian riders nevertheless, I am gearing up through practices and fitness trainings. TVS Racing have selected eight outstanding riders from the Asian countries to participate in the upcoming TVS Asia One-Make Championship that will be held alongside the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) on the 28th-29th May 2022 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). The riders who are from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Japan and Philippines took their first stride on the TVS Apache RR310 machine which is a factory production of the TVS Motor Company, India and will take part in the upcoming Round 2 of the ARRC. Commenting on the selection process, TVS Racing Team Manager, B Selvaraj said, “We focus on One-Make to allow modifications on the machine that would provide us with key feedback for the advancement and development of our products.” “The criteria of rider selection, more importantly looks into the experience of riders and latest best achievements apart from the lap timings which would go the distance in selecting the best riders for this one-make championship. Additionally, we also take into consideration the consistency and adaptability of riders towards the machine.” TVS Asia One-Make Championship stemmed from the idea of discovering new talents in the Asian region consequently opening a pathway for a comprehensive development of the motorsport industry within these countries. Two Wheels Motor Racing announces its partnership with TVS Racing, the factory racing team of TVS Motor Company of its participation in the TVS Asia One-Make Championship that will run alongside FIM Asia Road Racing Championship. The championship will see a total of sixteen riders from all over Asia who will be finalised on 27th April, 2022 for the first year. The selection will be held at the Sepang International Circuit where Round 2 of the ARRC will take place in May.
